Why Geographic Architecture. The songline pattern is geographic in the deepest sense — the story is mapped onto Country itself, the narrative held in the land and read through the journey across it. In the general structural pattern engaged here, the story moves across Country from a starting place, following ancestral tracks marked by landscape waypoints, attuned to the natural cycles, carrying knowledge and Law, to the journey's completion. The land carries the story; the structure is the journey through Country. It is geographic architecture in its most profound land-woven form (engaged structurally, with the deepest respect).
